Today is the second day of the 117th annual U.S. Open Golf Championship, the second of four major championships in golf and the national championship of the United States Golf Association.
The 4-day Father's Day tournament is being held at the Erin Hills golf course in Erin, Wisconsin, northwest of Milwaukee. Inspired by classic Scottish and Irish courses, Erin Hills Golf Course is known for its strikingly beautiful layout and land contours shaped thousands of years ago by melting glaciers. The setting will challenge 156 golfers to navigate the longest course in U.S. Open history, plus soak in a breathtaking view of Holy Hill, a basilica and national shrine located just three miles east of the city.
In 2016, the U.S. Open brought 5.4 million viewers to FOX Sports.
Think your brand could benefit from a strategic sponsorship?
See how global energy management company World Fuel Services partnered with professional golfer Troy Merritt for a win-win sponsorship opportunity in this year's tournament.
Meet and Greet
Last year, World Fuel Services recruited a special speaker for an annual incentive trip geared toward employees, top clients and VIPs. Winspire Executive Vice President Jeff Weber had worked with pro golfer Troy Merritt in the past and knew he would be a great fit for their needs.
Impressed with Merritt's lively stories and down-to-earth nature, WFS felt a connection with him right off the bat. As a result, they decided to sponsor him on the tour this year.
On behalf of Winspire and everyone at World Fuel, we wish Troy good luck in the tournament!
